Born 1915. One of Britain's finest and most admired contemporary painters. Mary Fedden studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London from 1932 to 1936. She painted and taught until World War II broke out. After the war, Fedden began to paint full-time again and developed her unique style of still life painting. She awas the first woman to teach in the Painting Scool at the Royal College of Art from 1958 to 1964, Mary Fedden held the post of President of the RWA, from 1984 to 1988. She is a member of the Royal Academy. She has also received an O.B.E. for her work.
